Tariffs and Potential Inflation

The fact of the matter is that if you voted for Trump, you are likely still happy that you did so. And if you didn’t vote for Trump, you likely don’t support what he’s doing. Few to no minds are changing from this thread or the actions he has taken in the last couple of weeks since he took office. Very few surprises, very few minds changing.

The point of discussion and debate isn’t to change minds. It is to encourage critical thought. I do my best to see other sides of every argument, but I have a sensitive bullshit indicator. It’s a flaw I guess.

Maybe for you, certainly not for many on this and other threads.

My kids school was in service for MLK day. The only school on our district. I have no point to make, I just thought it was very strange and Wanted to share.
Thats weird. We're they using it make up days for snow days pr something. Thats the only time I ever had to go to school on a federal holiday like that.

Tariffs punish all consumers for the decisions corporations made as they were aided and abetted by Congress over the last 50 years.

Of we want critical manufacturing back, unfortunately we are going to have to pay for it through loan guarantees or tax incentives. The CHIPs Act is a good start. We can always throw in repatriation of earning that are spent on reinvesting in America and not stock buy backs. We can change the tax code to incentive American companies to be IP holders, and contract manufacturers. Underneath all this we need to develop skilled workers that can do this work. There's a reason DOGE want more H1Bs, and it was comical to see the far right not understand why. Surely those same folks aren't going to be fluent in multiple programming languages, or electrical/mechanical/metallurgical etc. engineering.

There's a #*^@#* ton of systemic change that can be done, but most don't have the vision for the complexity of it.
