Tariffs and Potential Inflation

Orange man wants to lower oil price. Time will tell if this strategy works.

Don't forget to add his demand for lower rates to the list of guano he piled on the Davos elites. Congress needs to get his cabinet confirmed ASAP. I am guessing it will be about 3 months before they start hiding him in a closet like they did Biden.

Orange Man tariff news in this one.

One of the competitive advantages that the US economy has enjoyed is low natural gas prices, compared to...say...Europe.

If and when we ramp up LNG exports, that advantage will diminish or disappear. It will also raise the price we pay to heat our homes.

@SAJ-99 was crying yesterday that nat gas was going back to $2 because of trump. Now you are worried it is going to spike because trump wants to sell to Europe. You guys need to get together and work your stories out!

SAJ-99 yesterday!

"The Executive order to end the LNG permitting, declaration of an Energy Emergency and the like is all done to talk down the price of Nat gas, which was $4.20 last week ($3.90 now). Ironically, the reason Biden put on the Exec order last year was to lower nat gas prices. All of this is just show right now. No energy company is going to ramp up drilling without some indication that demand is there, and they know Saudis and OPEC are sitting on excess capacity. The entire energy market feels stuck. Nat gas seems headed back to a 2-handle by Spring. The market remains oversupplied."

Should I just give you my login so you can write stuff for me and so you can understand it? I wasn't "crying" about anything. Just giving an opinion. And it isn't even like I'm saying anything radical. The NG price has been between $1.5 and $3.5 for two years until this recent bump.

We ship a lot of LNG to Europe, nothing was stopped in reality, only in the mind of Fox viewers. Export demand is expected to double in the next 5 years, if permits can get through the courts and plants get built. Trump asking them to buy more isn't going to matter. It is a fully supplied market and they only have so much storage (Germany currently at 66% full, half way through winter.).10-day forecast for Berlin shows highs in the 40's. Have to have colder weather for them to use more now, then they refill in summer. If it makes you feel better, EIA (big bad gubment) is forecasting nat gas prices to increase this year and in 2026. Place your bets.

Closet Joe didn't put a halt on LNG permitting to lower NG prices here. He used a "study" to halt it.

"On his first day in office, the President lifted a so-called pause on new LNG export terminal construction that the Biden administration imposed on the industry following one study that claimed LNG exports had a higher carbon footprint than coal."

Got it. Media story that supports your view = good. Media story that you disagree with = biased liberal rag.

I enjoy discussing most anything with most anybody.

It would be appreciated if you did not put words in my mouth.

Where did I infer being worried? I stand to gain personally if Exxon and others start exporting LNG to Europe and the rest of the world. All I did was point out a domestic consequence if it happens.

Carry on.

I hardly consider Reuters a rag - https://www.reuters.com/business/en...ts-us-governments-ban-lng-permits-2024-07-01/

And from DOE - https://www.energy.gov/sites/default/files/2024-02/001WHI~1.PDF

And from FORBES - https://www.forbes.com/sites/ianpal...-for-the-golden-age-of-liquefied-natural-gas/

And from MSN - https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/oth...reatens-to-slow-trump-s-lng-plans/ar-AA1tGmXo

Are each of these misrepresenting the action Biden took?

That goes for many here. Some get so excited to manipulate another's shared opinion because lazy fks here mostly "follow" select people, they are useless pom pom cheerleaders that the manipulator thrives on.

Those cheerleaders would do themselves a favor to actually read the content vs the typical joy of supporting a condescending post.

Not specifically directed towards @BigHornRam . It's directed to a few toons here that trip over their own arrogance.

As you enjoy conversing so do the vast majority of us. Those few sure lather in their arrogance.

/observation over.

Wrong choice of words about you being worried. I know you stand to gain if demand for US LNG ramps up.

Nah. Just saying if he really wanted to make an impact, that is about the least effective way to do it. I don’t pay attention to the reasons people apply to politicians actions.
