Tape on the end of the barrel

Not taping the barrel got me a nice elk awhile back, so I have mixed feelings about it.
I was hunting with my brother and we had decided he would get first shot, we came across a good bull and just before he shot discovered he had an obstructed barrel. Not wanting to miss the opportunity and knowing that my taped barrel wasn't obstructed - I shot it. Hey, we're brothers, that's what you do for your brother. Right?;)

We put plastic caps on the end of our barrels in Iraq. Didn't affect accuracy, just looked like Elmer Fudd after we shot with the end of the cap blown out and curled away from the barrel.

Tape or no tape if that happens I am finding a way to clean the gun and I am for sure going to make sure there isn't an obstruction.

Depending on how hard it was hit I am going to find something to shoot at to make sure it is still on.

Tape on, didn't need to clear the obstruction. Good thing.. You'd be hard pressed to find a twig out there to shove down the barrel.

Cleaned up fine, didn't even need to go to the coin op car wash..
