Looks like I'm headed that way for work in a month or so. It will disrupt my Montana hunting a little bit, but a guy has to work. (It's a 5 hour drive or so from home) I've never been there. What towns are close? Weather? More importantly, what could I hunt while there? Anything OTC left? I plan on getting a wolf tag at the very least. Thanks guys. mtmuley

Looks like no quota on either the Tex Creek or Palisade elk zones at first glance. If you want, you can purchase OTC rifle tags for wolf, bear, deer and elk.

Idaho Falls is the closest Larger town. About 30-40 minutes away. You have got Palisades reservoir right there. Although not much water in it. The S. Fork of the Snake is right there. Good fishing to be had in October and not much competition a few ducks on the river. Palisades zone OTC elk tag (which I have) Tex creek OTC elk tag. OTC deer tags. A few wolves might be around. Hike into Upper Palisades Lake. Lots of fun stuff to do.
Weather could be anything: Snow to 60 degree weather. Supposed to snow a bit above their tonight. I would expect freezing at night and 30-60 degrees for the high. haha.
Probably can find a few grouse to shoot at as well.
