Well we finally got some fish in the cooler. I didn't grow up fishing with the exception of the occasional outing when we went to visit Grandpa. He always set up the tackle so there wasn't much learning back then. We've been throwing just about everything we can think of in the water with only one white bass I caught from the bank before we finished building the boat. Layla has to go home to her mom this coming weekend. I was worried she would go home without any success after a very frustrating summer. We went up to the lake on Saturday afternoon with the plan to fish the evening and early morning. Right around sunset we got these two one right after the other. They won't set any records, but we are beyond happy. Layla is definitely a fisherwoman. She misses no chance to remind me she caught the bigger one. We both had a couple more get away that evening and again in the morning. We still have a lot to learn.
My experience fishing with Grandpa was walleye and bass. Do catfish not fight very hard or was it just that these two are so small? The white bass I caught in the spring was smaller than both of these and put up way more of a fight.
