We have 3 bear creeks in our county. All in different geographic quadrants of the county.

Off the top of my head I can think of three Bear Creeks within a 50-mile radius of me, but 3 in one county is pretty hard to beat!

Maybe Trump will change the name of a nearby canyon which the old timers call nigg@r canyon.

2 of the 3 are close but the third is probably 40 miles by road, 25 as the crow flies.

I heard this was due to the executive order Biden signed about not drilling in the Gulf of Mexico. No such order exists if they change the name. At least that is what the FB attorneys say.

There are so many mountains and geographical features named after people, where do you draw the line on which one is acceptable?

Do Indigenous people have the sole right to naming a mountain? Any geographical feature?

Do we use cave drawings as first reference?

Do any of the local populations have a bigger oar in the water?

Historical references have any weight in decisions? What the feature has always been called?

Do we have elementary school children draw it and name it for Dairy Queen coupons? I might be in if it includes Seniors for the DQ coupons.
