Story behind the name......

The first internet forum I joined was a whitewater rafting forum. Redside is a class 4 rapid on the Middle fork of the Salmon and also the first rapid I flipped in.

I am not creative. I’m a Wife that enjoys Hunting. Been tempted to change it to HW for brevity.

But then when people change their handles it messes me up. I’m still struggling with @wllm name change for example. Wllm1313 just had a biblical ring to it.

I grew up in southern MN and never heard of them. Ole and Sven (Norwegian) jokes were ubiquitous. Funny how a couple hundred miles makes such a big difference, even within a state.

They were Sven and Ole jokes in northern MN.

I grew up a south of Big Fin in a predominantly Finnish area west of Duluth. Everybody had at least one sauna.

I grew up on a dairy farm with a small stream running thru it. Friends and I fished up and down miles of that river and hunted deer and grouse all through the area too. The stream was named the west branch of the xxxxx river. So went with westbranch for a name.

I hunt with bows (mostly) and bullets (sometimes) and my brother and I sometimes refer to arrows as "bow bullets."

I have only used one rifle for my adult life and it’s a Browning A-bolt 7mm Remington magnum that I bought used from a good friend that has since passed away. I also only shoot one load out of it regardless of the game animal because it shoots the load so well (federal premium nosler partition 160 gr).

I always figured I’d have a full gun rack but I just never had the need for anything else yet (but I have not drawn moose yet (but if I do-160gr nosler partition will be headed his way)).

I'm one of the 70 or so active volunteer woodcock banders in Michigan. There are another 30+- inactive banders (folks that maintain their status but do not go out attempting to find woodcock).

I am from TN and broke out hunting with a rifle. I used to complete in the precision rifle series, but now I am a hunting junkie with a bow. I would change my name... but as Hunting Wife said, it would mess everyone up. I would probably go with GSM_ELk or something like that.
