I love to watch a good lightning show too. But we don't seem to get them anymore which is a good thing.
The last storm set the Boise National Forest on fire and most of them are still roaring.

Got pretty nasty about 20 minutes after this photo. Lightning hit a power pole and power was out for a day after that

Yep exactly. I sprinted down into the valley at that point. And these two photos summed it up.

A few years ago when my wife was pregnant with our first, we were watching a storm from under our covered porch when lightning struck our neighbor's house maybe 20 feet away. Scared us to death - I take electric storms a little more seriously now my wife said our daughter squirmed like crazy after that happened.

It also did a number on a bunch of electrical fixtures, outlets and breakers on all of the houses in the vicinity.
