I normally use SS pins in the wet tumbler. Yesterday I tried out a batch of brass using the SS chips since they supposedly clean the primer pockets better and won't get stuck in the flash holes. They did a great job of cleaning the brass but left them looking like they were sand blasted. I'm thinking that since the chips are brand new that all the edges are still sharp and need usage to round them off. I wonder if filling the tumbler with bolts/rocks and running it a few hours would smooth out the chips? It's purely a cosmetic issue but I thought I'd share it in case any of you are considering chips vs pins.
