Just east of Kansas city a bit.Great post @Cdduncan, appreciate the follow up What part of Missouri we’re you guys in?
@stevejfarms nice to have that accessibility, around here and NorCal so much of the ground worth a damn is tied up/leased!
Not necessarily. You've got time til waterfowl season rolls around. Take time and start digging, research, speak to wildlife biologists in your area. See what the state wildlife agency has to offer on waterfowl hunting. Time and pressure will result in success.I'm looking to get into bird hunting and could use some advice where to start? I don't have any contacts or friends that hunt where I live in VA so would hiring a guide be a suitable option? Thanks.
So fellow waterfowl hunters. A buddy of mine and I are looking to do a spring hunt conservation hunt for snows next year. Kinda of a bucket list deal; you know like an unlimited 4# dove hunt of sorts. I know that the “hot spot” changes year-by-year, hell even day-by-day but we are looking to lock something up and want to get suggestions for at least state and month.
If you have recommendations on a guide service even better. I’ve never hired a guide for waterfowl but for this type of hunt, would have NO problem in doing do.
Hell if you want to go with, that’s probably doable as well!
Thanks in advance- Marv
we had multiple bird hitches that we used for cleaning and made ton of jerky, sticks, & even brats. On the week we shot over 1200 i know we gifted a couple pickup loads to a Hutterite Colony1200 geese in five days !! That's some shooting and some skinning. What did you guys do with all those birds ?
@CPAjeff i take it you were hunting Missouri? Which lodge were you based out of?
Just talked to him, name is Kyle- he says the first week or so of March is best. Fish and Fur outfitters 208-936-5180, no web site all word of mouth or he does a couple outdoorsman shows.
Matt
Sounds like you guys had a great plan ! I too have a Bird Hitch and they work very well on Snows. We have gifted lots of birds to a Hutterite Colony where we hunt in Saskatchewan. Those folks are well organized with proper forms, tags, etc.we had multiple bird hitches that we used for cleaning and made ton of jerky, sticks, & even brats. Appreciate it Flatrock, looking at all options for next year. Realize that the migration is that it is, just trying to come up with a general time/state/outfitter to start with
