Not necessarily. You've got time til waterfowl season rolls around. Take time and start digging, research, speak to wildlife biologists in your area. See what the state wildlife agency has to offer on waterfowl hunting. Time and pressure will result in success.

Used to do follow them every spring from mound city Missouri all the way into Canada. Best hunting was always in SD & ND. Hunting the tip of spear migration can be damn near impossible but very rewarding 1 out of 20 times. Hunting late season when your basically hunting smaller roosts of juvies is where the big numbers come from. Our best single day was over 400 and had a 5 day week total of 12xx. we had multiple bird hitches that we used for cleaning and made ton of jerky, sticks, & even brats. On the week we shot over 1200 i know we gifted a couple pickup loads to a Hutterite Colony

The spring conservation season is an experience that all, who are able, SHOULD experience. I've hunted with Habitat Flats (Tony Vandemore) and hunted with Scott Robinson (Waterfowl Specialists) prior to Scott's passing. Habitat Flats is an incredible operation!
Looking back at my journals, we averaged 37 birds a day with group sizes averaging eight guys. There were a couple 100+ days, and a few single digit bird days. Aside from doves in Argentina, the spring snow goose hunt is one of my all-time shotgunning favorites!

Sorry, I should've included those details! All my spring snow goose hunting has been done in Missouri, usually the first couple weeks of March. With Habitat Flats, we stayed at their lodge in Sumner.
My advice: Book a hunt, and take LOTS of shells!

Sounds like you guys had a great plan ! I too have a Bird Hitch and they work very well on Snows. We have gifted lots of birds to a Hutterite Colony where we hunt in Saskatchewan. Those folks are well organized with proper forms, tags, etc.
Got back Sunday night. We hunted by Yankton, SD and didn't do worth a sh*t. I don't know much about hunting snows in the spring but there just weren't any birds where we were. The guide said their best day this year was about 50 birds which I was pretty shocked to hear. We shot 17 in 3 days. Had a great time with friends but I would definitely not go back to the same place.
