Hey guys.
Born and raised in SD. College in CO. Moved to CA few years ago for work but hopefully moving back in the not so distant future. Majority of my hunting has been on private land where I really only thought about hunting during the season. I have points and will likely be doing a number of hunts in SD next couple years. Building points in WY, MT and CO for elk, deer and antelope. Also will be hunting CA for black bear in the fall. Heading to do some steelhead fishing next weekend in northern CA. Have read a number of threads on here over the years and appreciate everyone’s input. Excited to do more public land hunting and start contributing myself. Here are some photos from some of the various hunts over the years.

Nice! If you decide to stay and run for game commission I would delete that lion photo. Can’t beat the CA offshore fishing, take advantage while you are there.

Great way to start by throwing insults at the State.
The state takes a large portion of my income, taxes my home, taxes my vehicle, taxes everything I buy higher than anywhere else I've lived, severely harms my work through terrible regulation and litigation, forced me to get an experimental vaccine if I wanted to go out to dinner (in LA), wear masks to go into stores, limits hunters ability to properly manage predators, restricts my right to bear arms (had to leave dozens of guns back in SD), homeless bums everywhere, fails to prosecute criminals and many more short comings. Within a year of moving to CA I had a car stolen, broken into and a catalytic converter stolen. In two decades in South Dakota I never even took the keys out of the ignition and never had an issue. I have to wait here to buy a gun. In South Dakota I could buy a gun from a guy on the street and carry in concealed carry without any problem. Sure, CA may not be by definition communist, and there are a lot of great natural parts of the State and there have been a lot of great people come out of it, but the state government here is pretty atrocious and I think anyone would have a pretty hard time defending its record of late..

Fair enough and that's probably good advice, but for better or worse I'm not one to hide any part of my beliefs or what I care about.

And yes I need to! I'm headed up North to fish the Eel River for steelhead this weekend. I have some coworkers with boats that do quite a lot of ocean fishing that I'm going to try to start tagging along with.

The majority of what you say is partially true. It sounds like you have chosen one of the notorious shit holes of the state. Every state has them and you seem to have chosen to live and work in one of them, but that was your choice. Nobody forced you to move there. To throw a blanket insult to the state and people that live here is just plain ignorant. Look up the definition of communism while you're making plans to move out of the state that has offended you so much.

My god you're a sensitive little guy ain't ya? Commiefornia is a common term used to efficiently portray displeasure with excessively liberal policies in the state without having to get bogged down into specific policies. Commie is used because it is on the same wing and shares many values, while also sounding similar to Cali. Not because anyone actually thinks it's communist :ROFLMAO: And it's not a blanket insult at everyone in the state. The fact that you're this riled up over it makes me think you are quite self conscious about it ;)

What makes my post just partially true? What part of what I said isn't true? Please defend these policies, and if you can't then just leave the thread and quit your bitching haha as a resident my opinion about what policies I think the state should improve on means just as much as yours. And to be honest, I didn't come to HT to argue politics. Many (almost certainly most) users here would agree with me on these views, and I didn't expect to upset someone so much over a pretty well known subject.

Finally, where do you think I live? Most all of my issues with the State are not exclusive to any one part of it, but are issues state wide. I've lived in three different parts of the state. My catalytic converter theft and broken window was in Mountain View, which is one of the nicest in the Bay area. I enjoy being here and enjoy the large amount of time I spend in the CA wilderness. I used one term to express displeasure with some policies here. No need to get your panties in a bunch

YAWN,,,, did you say something? It gets me how people move here and then complain about everything. If it's so bad, so upsetting to your lifestyle, then why don't you just move? People usually move into CA to make a decent wage that they couldn't make somewhere else then complain about everything that is different than where they came from. I don't get it. Granted that much of what you complain about doesn't effect me. I'm a bit east of Mountain View, east of James Lick observatory. I'm comfortably retired sitting in the middle of nowhere where there's about 30-40 residents in over 100 sq. miles . My California is much different than wherever it is you have CHOSEN to live. I'm sorry that you have CHOSEN one of the glorious shit holes. My question to you is, if it's so bad and your so unhappy, why don't you move? I certainly wouldn't live where I hated so much as you appear to.

Wait... Is this you talking crap about the governor of CA? How dare ya insult everyone in CA... I went and looked at your recent activity and it's largely been about politics between the 'next surge' thread about Californians moving after the fires and 'is this what we've become' talking about trump coin.

Where did I say it was so bad? I just pointed out the issues I see when questioned on a term. And I'm not the type to just sit in my bubble. Most issues I have aren't where I live. Where have I said that I live in a shithole? I go and explore all parts of the state and see opportunities for improvement and express them. You sound like some easily offended old boomer that doesn't get out often enough and is looking for something to argue about...

I notice you never had any rebuttal to the issues I had with the state? Please, I ask again, what did I say that wasn't true? If nothing, honestly just stfu.
I see multiple posts you've made complaining about all kinds of things. Why don't you leave if you live in such a shithole and you're so unhappy? Do you see now how ludicrous your comments are when they're turned around?

I came here to talk about hunting and conservation. It clearly wasn't meant as an insult to the area or the people, but to the politics that I find wrong, particularly about civil liberties such as gun rights, excessive taxation, and predator mismanagement that you so far are unable to defend.
If there are any policies you'd be interested in hashing out related to hunting or conservation, I'd be happy to discuss, but otherwise I'm frankly not interested in your vague nonsensical posts that have no actual substance.
In the future, I'll avoid using terms such as 'commiefornia' that could be misinterpreted and instead only mention particular issues; hopefully this will avoid confusing old folk and offending their delicate sensibilities. I wish you well, and I bet if we ever ran into each other in the woods we would have a lot more in common than most.

That is likely true. Until your political ideology compelled you to whine about California and the laws, regulations, and policies inacted by the people, for the people, and of the people who populate the state in which you have CHOSEN to reside.

As a lifelong Montanan I hear the same rant from those who move here to leave some less desirable place ... then whine about Montana with wishes that it was more like the place they left behind!

What this guy seems to not understand is that the term commiefornia is offensive . I asked him plainly if he hates the place so badly, why live here? I agree with some of his statements, but I don't think of the state as commiefornia. It's insulting. He then proceeds with personal insults. Why?
If I was to run into him hunting in the woods then he would be trespassing. Lastly, he better get used to governor newsom and his politics. He's going to be the next president if someone doesn't stop him.
