***if points are not Squared, then odds go up to a 1.07% :)
It’s worse. SD cubes points instead of squaring. About the dumbest idea they could have come up with.

What is your definition of "worth it"?
hunting home state of colorado public lands only, i'd like to hear from someone who regularly hunts SD how do crowds compare?
as for access part: is there enough Walkin/BLM/NTFR lands to get out/stretch legs and get after some animas with a bow?
if YES, that would be worth it for me. i look at other states as more of an adventure/road trip, but i'd hate to drive 6-8 hours if there are no lands to access. tags are cheap for OTC, so if i can find some land to hunt, that would be worth it to me to try every few years as a change up to CO/WY/NE, etc thanks

ok i think i figured it out.

BH101 (any whitetail)
Overall 20.91% success based on Total Tags vs Total apps. so 1 in5 got a tag.
there are few diff ways to look at it.
Expected Success based on your PP and expected draw % vs Actual Success rate by PP level (it changes as technically someone with lower PP's can draw a tag and higher PP may not). this is the best i could come up with.
for WT BH111 looks like it may still be worth applying.

Don't come on the weekends and yes you can find places to get out and about to find game without herds of people.

Antelope numbers are down in much of the state but there are still comfortable populations in the right areas.

The white tail on the Little Missouri River took a big hit last year so stay to the prairie for them.

Mule deer seem to be doing pretty good.

I would say come give it a shot and look around to see what you think. If you're not seeing anything move around until you do.

appreciate it, knowing that it's worth exploring is what i wanted to hear.
on the plus side i would not be looking at Mule deer as i get those in CO, so my interest is primarily WT Deer and Antelope focused.
sounds like i'll add it to my short list of states to check out in next 2 to 3 years.
thanks

South Dakota Deer Tag Email Update from SDGFP:

Your Deer License Will Be Arriving Soon

The summer heat is in full effect, but that doesn't stop us from thinking about deer season this fall! While you're preparing for a great season, we wanted to give you an update on when you can expect your deer tag(s) to be arriving.

As you may have noticed, the tag printing for the firearm deer seasons has been delayed due to supply-chain shortages. Firearm deer tags from the first draw will be showing up in your mailbox by the second week of September, with second and third draw deer tags showing up in your mailbox in mid to late-September.
