South Dakota Black Hills

I dont know any thing about those tag or unit or state. But I've been south of Rapids working on sheridan lake road all summer and have seen a few decent white tail. Not much help if you want a mule deer.

What is the average shot distance for the Black Hills? I feel confident out to 200 yards off sticks and 300 prone.

I don't think you'll have any trouble then. I saw most of the deer within 150 yards. With the exception of a few of them, most were withing 200 yards. Although, most of them were further than I'm used to in MN/WI, I didn't think it was too big of a deal. I did miss on at 297yds on day 2. But looking back at what I did, I made a lot of mistakes, even for what some here would call a chip shot.

If you're comfortable at 200, you'll have plenty of opportunities.
