Gastro Gnome - Eat Better Wherever

South Alabama Deer Camp 2014

JLS, we mostly stand hunt. But alot of guys have started pushing through recent cutovers and jumping deer. Its pretty risky because you can harvest a buck and a doe per day but the buck has to have 3pts on at least one side. We usually hunt thick areas that are used as escape cover or bedding areas for the deer, so once the guys start bumping them they are moving alot.

1 ptr, as mentioned Barbour and Lowndes are the best in the state for numbers of deer and quality of bucks. If any of you guys are considering a Jan hunt, let me know I would be willing to point you in a direction to get started.
Thanks! I'm sure I will be in touch. The posts on this thread are enough to start the research.

Bunch of good looking animals (2 legged and 4 legged). I'm sure that having all the family around the camp make it a successful hunt no matter what was harvested. Well done!

Outstanding family time there! Don't get any better than that. Congrats and enjoy your trophies! Good huntin'

Awesome...my buddies and I use to lease farms in Alabama and Miss for years. We always had a great time. We usually would go the first week of January after our season closed cause no one was done hunting yet....thanks for the story and pics.....
