With the wife and kids on the east coast, visiting her sister, I wanted to try a place that I've never been and catch a fish that I've never caught. I tend to fall victim to the same-place-same-thing mentality. As such, I decided to go boulder hopping in search of grayling. The boulder fields didn't disappoint:
After lots of fun in the boulders, the intended destination was finally in view:
Sight casting to feeding fish was a blast:
A size 16 renegade on my 7' 3 wt flyrod and these grayling provided quite the entertaining morning! Grayling sure are gorgeous!!
After landing and releasing my fair share, and missing that many or more, I called it a morning. What a riot!
