Attempted the dream of a DIY in alaska and couldnt get it done. Had planned on doing the hunt near chicken only to have the hunt shut down the day we arrived. With our spirits down we decided to go of the game officers advice and hunt the area near circle hot springs and hunted hard for four days with out seeing an animal after giving up on that we left for the steese highway with the same results. Well I have not had enough torture or blew enough of my hard earned and hard to come by money so I am planning a hunt a unguided drop in moose hunt in 2008. Have just started the research. So far have spoke to mark from D&M charters he qouted $3500 for a outfitted unguided moose hunt. any info,advice,would be great

Yeah that taylor hunt does close pretty fast. I hope you had a good time though. You difinitly have to be up there within a week or 2 of opening to make sure you can hunt. we usually hunt bou up there but this year we didnt cuz the ole ladies back went out on her.
