I've got 2 sporterized 6.5 swedes, one of which was cut to about 12.5" lop when my (now) older boys were younger.I'm not a tall person, and actually shoot the shorter lop well, especially if I'm hunting when it's cold, and I've got heavier clothes on. I'm thinking I'd like to have another caliber of gun, and might trade the full length one, not the firearm my children killed their first deer with, for maybe a 257 roberts. Any better choice in about the same category?

I don't see you getting what that gun is actually worth on a trade in. Sporterized guns aren't cool anymore...everybody wants a stainless steel 300 ultra

seems I always end up with one of the mausers in my hand when I go. today I tipped over a moosie size deer with a swede, but carried the 7x57 for the early bear season. Wonder about a 7mm 08, too

You could read "My Diatribe" on the Firearms thread.....or save yourself some grief.... just go pick up a 7mm/08 and start sending me gratitude Christmas presents for the next 20 yrs !!

I went up to the farm today took several rifles, 2 in 6.5x55 I tried Hornday interloc 140 grn, Norma and Lapua softpoint in 140 grn also some S&B also in 140 grn softpoint, I could not get a 5 shot group outside an inch, both rifles were built pre 1960 why do you need anything else??:);)

I bought a .260 "for my kids" but have to confess to loving that rifle. You might want to check one out, flat shooting and wicked fast.

Harley, I think you're right, why mess with success? Other than it's different than what I already have two of.

I'm in the same boat choc dog, a .27, 2 7MM's, and 2 .30's.....plus an inexplicable hankering for a .338. Sometimes an itch needs scratching.:)

ok..so if the itch seems to be 25 caliber..and I'm thinking the swede's continue to live here...(why 25, just cause, damn it)...now where would we all go?
