SHIRAS MOOSE ANTLERS

[SPOTTED OWL]

I've got a question regarding Shiras moose
antlers. How wide can they get? I know they
don't get as big as say the Yukon species,
but was wondering what a huge rack would
measure in terms of width. A guy in Wa just
shot a 54" bad boy. It will be #2 in the state. The #1 came off a dead animal.Thanks!

Owl-I have a seen a true 50 incher but I really dont know how much bigger than that they get. Obviously they get bigger, but I dont know the answer. Greenhorn may know what the biggest ever recorded is. bcat

I know of a 60 incher that came out from near the S.E. corner of Yellowstone about 7 years ago or so. On the pack out, the antlers got caught between some trees and some tips also broke off. What a shame
