I have been shed hunting for about three years now and have seen both antlers on bucks in March many times. Anyone out there with experience on the subject of when the majority of antlers are shed? I live in Northeast, Ohio.
By me over in southern NY mature bucks will drop pretty early, January/February. Some of the younger deer 4 or younger can hang on to them but I've never seen anything with horns after mid march..
In southeastern MN I find that most bucks will drop in early to mid February. Certainly there are sheds getting dropped before and after that, but it seems like that is when most of them hit the ground around here.
