SD Turkey Hunt (Pic Heavy)

Great pics thanks for sharing! What were you shooting with?

I have a Canon T3i with the standard kit lenses with exception to the wide angle lens. For the majority of the photos I used a 55-250mm lens. For the landscape photos I used a Canon 10-22mm lens. I was able to get really close to the deer and sheep which made it easy to get clear photos. Eventually I am hoping to get something more like a 70-300 with a zoom extender but that gets pricey and my accountant/wife wouldn't approve that expense yet.

Excellent pictures! What was the hunting pressure like? Were you fighting crowds?

I just got into the turkey hunting game this year and would like to make a trip out there next year.

I am new to the turkey game as well. Can be frustrating for sure. I didn't notice much pressure. It was the first weekend and there weren't any other hunters at the campsite. Like other have mentioned later in April will probably be busier as the birds might respond better.

Is that the 18 megapixel T3i? I'm looking at getting a new camera soon and have been doing a lot of research on the Canon T3i 18 mp. Seems like a great camera for the price and your pics/vids prove it!

Yeah it's a great starter DSLR. I also bought a $100 50mm prime lens which I would highly recommend as it has a low aperture and is great for shots where you can can control things. IE photos of a hunter and their harvest or photos of still objects.
