Scouting Trip

Last Saturday I decided that it would be a good day for my son and I to go find where we will take my daughter on her first antelope hunt. We also wanted to check on the upland bird population and find a few decent mulies to start keeping tabs on. I also wanted to check on a few potholes that are some of my favorites.

Found some of these guys.

This guy must have really liked weeds.

Another buck that may just get to meet my daughter. Nothing huge but good for her first big game critter.

Now imagine my surprise when we are out in the middle of the prairie looking for muleys and run across these 6 whitetail bucks out in the middle of nowhere. Nearest tree is 30 miles.

Even found some fowl

This was the smallest coyote I have ever seen. This is when we remembered we didn't throw in a rifle.

Great pictures.....every once in a while we'll spot some WT out in the middle of nowhere here also......Nothing wrong with either one of those goats for your daughters first.....keep us posted on the hunt...

Yeah all the bucks we saw were still in velvet.

Good luck and great pics! One day if the great State of Montana will ever give me a deer tag I want to hunt the High Plains. Hell, I might just throw in the towel and do a upland/waterfowl trip. Love the looks of that country.
