Howdy! As the title suggests I need to get up to speed on Columbia blacktail in Oregon. I'm a transplant by way of the military to Washington and want to head down that way next fall during the rifle season. I'd prefer to stay out of the coastal rainforest and lean more toward the west slope of the Cascades. From what I've seen online they act like a more reclusive mountain mule deer, I'm i correct there?

I'm in no way looking for anyone's hard earned spots! Just tips, tactics, tricks, and suggestions on what to do or look for. Thank you!

Scott Haugen wrote quite a bit about hunting blacktails, great source of information. I would guess his books are still in print. Worth buying for sure. He is more of a Jack O'Conner style of writer than most of the current crop. You'll learn quite a bit I imagine.

I'll look him up! Thanks for the tips
