We just got home from a whirlwind trip to Ogden. We opted for the scenic route home today instead of the interstate. Cool trip through some country I’d never seen. Here’s a photo dump of the windshield view.

I enjoyed this windshield tour.

It’s a good reminder that taking the long way is usually worth it in this country.
Wish we would have had time to stop a little more. I love small towns.

We left Ogden and had to go to Logan, so I saw the Bear River country for the first time too. Neat valley, I sure would have liked to spend some time reading the historical sites.

Believe it or not I shot a bear one spring in the frame of your third photo. I had hiked my ass off around Corn creek for a couple days looking for a bear with no luck. Surprisingly on my drive home back to Idaho Falls where I was living at the time, I spotted this bear as he was crossing the creek and was headed toward the highway. Big mistake for him but by far one of the easiest packouts I've ever had.

I really miss that country and wish I’d explored it more when it was close. I saw a seriously big whitetail from the highway I’m guessing near the 3rd photo, maybe it’s a new hotspot?

Did you make it to Bear Paw Battlefield? I was the ranger there once. Would have happily spent my career there giving tours and cleaning toilets. Stupid politics ended that. I will say that I do not disagree with the Supreme Court's recent ruling on affirmative action. Gender and race quotas (HR likes to call them "goals") have ruined govt employment.

I had a mild urge to turn and go over Lolo Pass. I used to travel that route fairly often, but haven’t been over it in close to 20 years as well.
