Ruger Number One, mule deer buck

This 64 year old with a bum leg managed to stalk & shoot the buck.

About 150 yards. One shot. Handloaded 160 gr Sierra Game King at about 3050 fps from the 7mm Rem Mag. I was in a modified sitting/kneeling position on a steep slope. Wrapped the Montana Sling around my arm to steady the rifle. Sadly I managed to pull it a little right and didn't get optimal shot placement. I got the rear of the lungs, and a bit of gut. Phooey.

Still, the buck sank to the earth and expired instantly. I like instant.

Thanks! I lucked out. The buck is where he fell. I looked at him and thought his antlers would make a nice rifle-rack for a field photo.

My hunting buddy snapped one of me with the buck. Easy to see that I was pretty happy:
