I listen to the brewers several times a week on the radio to hear Bob Ueker. His stories about playing in the minors are some of the best. he e claimed he got paid extra because he had a station wagon and could drive several players to away games.

Summertime in WI will never be the same. So many memories in my life regarding this wonderful man. I had the pleasure of getting to meet him several times including during a month long period in a summer where I got to work on his house. He loved talking everything baseball and many nights that month when he was home (Brewers were off and home) I got to talk with him after my work day was over.

Rest in peace Mr. Baseball.

You go to Miller Park (yes that is still what us true fans here still call it) and it is so cool to see all of the people that just want to go sit next to Uecker up in section 422 behind the huge column with no view of the field.

There are only 5 statues honoring members of the Milwaukee Franchise. There is the great Hank Aaron, Bud Selig, Robin Yount and two of Uecker. That should tell you all you need to know about how important this man was to our City and State and the Milwaukee Brewers. It truly is a sad day here in these parts. Maybe the Brewers will move his statue from section 422 to right behind home plate - or maybe just give him another statue. That would be the coolest thing ever to give him that front row seat!

The Wisconsin radio network announced his death this afternoon and the guy reading the piece talked a mile a minute. I thought that was so unlike Bob Ueker, when he was calling a game he’d say three words about the pitch, methodically pause, 3 words of the story he was telling, methodically pause, 3 words about the pitch. Sometimes his stories would take multiple innings to tell.

Spent many a summer evening listening to Bob Uecker call Brewers games. The man was a true legend in the baseball world, a one of a kind talent. Just not gonna be the same listening to Brewers games.
