“He was my mentor and a surrogate father too. He taught me all I really know and gave me the courage and enthusiasm to express myself without fear or without limit.”
There was a music store in our small town....Norsworthy's. It had small sound booths with turntables that patrons could actually demo albums. The counter lady was cool as hell and would let we broke-azzed wannabe garage band high schoolers listen to anything they had. I recall her slicing the cellophane with her painted thumbnail and handing me John Mayall's Bluesbreakers w/Clapton in 1966...changed everything I wanted to learn about guitar.
