EVH certainly changed the sounds coming from the Platinum Room at Guitar Centers...shredding, tapping, and plectrum sustain was THE noise emanating whenever you entered. Just a huge player influencer....RIP

Been a Van Halen fan since day one... I think the first pair of shoes ever on my feet were Red Chuck Taylors painted by Marco Perrella. Moms got them tucked away somewhere. Went through many pairs growing up and when I got older I Had to have another pair custom made, stitched, and painted by my father again. Fun fact: my middle name was supposed to be Halen. Dad didn’t get his way with Mom on that one but eventually named our dog Summer Halen Perrella. For as long as I can remember there’s been VH in details all throughout my life. Whether it was phone numbers ending in 5150, bike painted full VH like Eddies Guitar, giant canvas painting of album covers in the garage, going to VH concerts and Tequila being snuck in through my damn cheez it box (don’t ask about it haha), losing hearing at concerts standing close as we could and watching EVH solos (yeah 15 minute solo right into Eruption... remember that concert in Sacramento like it was yesterday), getting autographed Wabo license plates, Eddies Guitar floating around the house... you name it. The number of times Van Halen as been blared so beautifully and stupidly loud on speakers in the house for 10 blocks down to hear is insane. It’s awesome haha. Eddie shaped what I view and enjoy as music. Sad day losing a legend.. God Bless his soul and Rock in Peace Eddie Van Halen

Man that bummed me out yesterday. Starters playing 15 years ago and tried so hard to get to EVH level. So far not even close. Spectacular musician and always looked up to him.

One of my all time favorites. I remember going to see Van Halen in Las Vegas in about 1978 or 79. In those days before cell phones or internet we waited in a sea of people for hours just to get a wristband with a number for a chance to buy tickets. It was very much worth the effort to get those tickets.
I can still see David Lee Roth jumping off those incredibly tall speakers.
They're still one of my favorites although I never did really care for Sammy Hagar.

Age really seems like it is catching up to me when these things come to pass. Had all there first albums on 8 track tape.

Hella guitar player, one of my altimeter favs and got to witness in person a handful of times over my “youth”. Pretty sorted life he lived but I’m sure like everything else at about 10mph

We were able to see him in 2007. Although that was a year or two after Bearfoot saw him, he still put on a good show.

Never saw Van Halen, but I have seen singers Sammy Hagar and David Lee Roth (ironically, the opening act for my last KISS show!)
Usually had them cranked all the way up in my car. People heard me coming long before I got there.

Ain't talking bout love is my favorite Van Halen song and the opening/main riff is one of the best of all times. EVH was truly an innovator and master, forever changed the way the guitar is played up there with Hendrix. Refused to accept the limits of what was there and made his own path. EVH may have fallen but will never fade. RIP EVH.
Went to HS with the Van Halen bros & DLR. Remember they would hang with same crowd as I did & eat lunch @ "the spot". Eddie & another bud were always playing Sogovia and such then play with harmonics & riffs. Alex was the cool one. Eddie was always on. DLR was a jerk.
Weekend high school parties @ friends houses would draw hundreds,then thousands. Even then they were on their way and we knew it.

One of my favorites of all time. Saw in concert once with Diamond Dave and once with the Red Rocker. Spent a lot of drive time this week with SiriusXM on the VanHalen Tribute channel.
