So I got the go ahead on a semi custom build budget…. I want opinions on if some of the nicer carbon fiber stocks are worth the investment. I had 2 bad experiences with Stockys so I’m writing that off. I’ve had a bell & Carlson, several hs precisions (what this rifle currently sits in) and a couple of Boyd’s. Ultra light weight isn’t my primary concern. I’m open to suggestions, it will probably be something in a more traditional style rather than the new vertical grip/flat fore end.

Remington 700 LA so availability shouldn’t be an issue

Thanks!
Josh

Have you pointed a vertical grip?

I have handled and shot a few. I like them, just not what I want on this one in particular! I don’t think they’re ideal for quick, off hand shots but on a good rest it’s the way to go. I really like the one on the Seekins and the semi vertical that was on that gunwerks.

I'm awful with any type of quick shot...

A couple that haven't been mentioned that you might want to consider, Manners stocks and Oregunsmithing. I really like adjustable cheek height and have had both companies stocks.

I have a couple of Manners EH2s and a Pro hunter. I also have a couple of McMillan game wardens. Take a look at a manners EH3. It might fit what you are looking for.

I have always liked manners and B&C stocks, amazing how something as simple as a rifle stock has evolved in last 20 years.

I wouldn't consider AG stocks for anything you plan on keeping long term. The amount of pitting and voids between layers makes me think they are not vacuuming long enough or they are using cheap resins that don't permeate the layers. I have ONE ag stock that was inletted by a "gunsmith " and it's an absolute shitshow. Chunks missing and then painted over, pourus surfaces after allegedly being Cerakoted. Cleaning solvents, lube, dirt, etc seeps into the voids and delaminites the Cerakote, making fantastic new shades of carbon fiber.Lord knows what the solvents are doing to the internal integrity of the stock itself. The stock is basically a sponge for moisture
