I know there will be some that scream Blasphemy, for me saying this, but if you are only going to occasionally hunt elk, I see no reason not to use a 150 gr bullet. I used the 150 BT on whitetails in NC for several years and never had any problems. For elk, just switch to a bonded, or partition.
