I don’t normally reload pistol ammo but Im gonna reload for my .44special.
Whats a good powder for this application? Thanks
 
I use Blue Dot, because it was available. Lots of powder options though.

I would absolutely crimp, especially if loading cast lead. Recoil can be stout, and it can potentially push the loaded bullets back further into the case - seating your bullet deeper.
 
I’ve loaded lots of Special loads just in .44mag brass to keep my dies from having to be re-set up all the time. Look up Skeeter’s load. Unique and Universal have been my go-to.
 
Unique is my go-to pistol and light revolver powder. Burns dirty and throws poorly, but I’ve got close to a lifetime supply
Yep. I run it through a uniflow and it does ok, but not very smooth. Charges that run through that really rough get tossed back and given another go. I couple it with Missouri Bullet Co 240 gr LSWC. Very smoky!
