6.5 127gr Barnes LRX recovered from an aspen trunk after a pass-through on a cow elk

Any rough estimate as to impact velocity? I would've thought an LRX would open up a little better.

Also, here's a 165gr. Accubond fired into a cow elk at about 75 yards moving about 2700fps.

225 grain Barnes TSX from a 338 Win mag - finishing shot at about 15 yards after the grizzly was down but not dead.
200 grain Nosler Partition from my 30-06. Dropped him twice with the 30-06, then the guide handed me his 338 for the finishing shot. All rounds fired at less than 40 yards. Heck of a hunt in the Brooks range a few years ago.

Got any? Any good stories? Iā€™ve had nearly all pass throughs so donā€™t have many. Pictured are the two Iā€™ve recovered. A 165 grain federal trophy copper 30-06 I dug out of the hillside after a broadside shot on a mule deer and a Barnes 50 cal TMZ I recovered out of a rear ham from a frontal shot on a whitetail. It heart shot that zipped through ribs, missed guts and ended up in the back ham, sliding along just under the hide, as best I could tell.

Exact same scenario as the post that started this thread. Frontal shot on an antelope buck. Barnes 50 cal TMZ. Recovered just under the hide on a rear quarter. Somehow missed the guts completely. Found the blue tip on the inside while quartering him out.

Looks like yours expanded a lot better than mine! I use 100grains of pyrodex pellets. I was wondering if I wasnā€™t fast enough for expansion or just that how it goes sometime. Whatā€™s your load?

150gr of White Hot pellets. And I've used that combo on several animals and had great expansion and retention. Just don't have pictures of them.
