Hey folks, I have an 8 month old Golden Retriever/Irish Setter Mix that I might want to send off to training this summer.

Anyone have a good recommendation for obedience/hunt/retrieving training? Looking for a 1-2 month program.

Thanks folks!

Just wondering.... are you wanting training for pointing or flushing? You've got a bit of both in that pup. I'm interested because I'm thinking about getting a lab from a pointing breeding but only wanting it for flushing purposes.

Probably flushing. I got a Vizsla already and will be using this pup for waterfowl too

Over the Top Retrievers in Monticello MN did a great job with my dog. Scott has a nice set up. I think he might be down in TX training right now but believe he starts back up here in April. Shoot me a PM if you have any specific questions.

Fly creek Kennels, Ballantine, MT
Marty Golden is the trainer, top notch trainer and person. Has had 3 of my past dogs and will be sending him my 1 year old pup this summer.

We like Flushem High in Glendive. He trains all breeds. We got our Springer from them and know a few others that have too.

We got a Vizsla pup in Fall 2024 and I'd like to get her trained for upland bird. I've never hunted upland, so totally clueless. Do you have any recommendations for trainers in the Fargo area?

Nobody in the area imo.

Contact Lee Dosier Rockwood Kennel's in WI or Martinsen's Red Point Kennel in SD

Curious what guys are charging these days. Wasn't cheap 7 years ago. I don’t think I could swing it at this point and time.
I wanna say Martinsen's were like $1200-1400/mo and want them for 3 minimum.

I am sure you can find someone solid for cheaper but in the information age, most people that are good at it know what to charge.

Iirc it was $750 a month back then and that guy was awesome.

I can give you his contact, but I dont think you'll like the commute. But if your serious he's a hell of a trainer. I'm sure he's a tad higher than that now as well.

Marzolf X-Kennel out of Wentworth, SD. Amazing to work with. I'm not sure if they do flushers or not, but I'd reach out and ask.
Jason and Megan are fantastic!
I sent my griff there as a pup. 10/10 recommend.

Also, Tate Martinsen was my first choice but he was booked full. I has Marzolf’s as my 1b option and he recommended them also.
Both Marzolf’s and Tate run dogs in and judge NAVHDA trials.
