Rattlesnakes while hunting

I like ‘em. But, they do not taste like chicken. They taste like the sausage grease that we fried them In. Yep, I would do it again. 😆

What time of year and where are you hunting. Later in the year the smaller the chance
Yup you got a point there. You are not likely to see rattlers out after end of August or September depending on when temp drops. Rattlers are most active when temps range between 80-90 degrees.
 
If you believe you need to kill a prairie rattle snake, get a stick or rock. Even cheaper. And you don’t have to walk around with a pistol and bird shot.😁
I always walk around with a pistol. Couple rounds of birdshot in a pocket is no burden at all.
 
Wyoming antelope hunt October 2020. We were about 30 miles west of Casper. First day out and was quite warm out. This guy let me get closer than I would have liked before sounding the alarm.
