Ramshot "Grand", seems to be a solid powder.

I've been playing around with the new RS Grand powder. Good fill rate with low ES/SD and respectable velocities without pressure.

Made in the USA and is available just about everywhere. That's a WIN in this day and age!

Here are a few loads that "Grand" has proven to be a winner.

AS ALWAYS, EVERY RIFLE IS UNIQUE, START LOW AND WORK UP.

I should add that these are two used rifles that I picked up last summer. Kimber rifles have always been good shooters for me.

What is it comparable to, H1000? How is the temp stability?

I did start load work up last summer, August, and finished late fall, November. Shot both loads last month, January, in really cold temps and both loads lost 8-12fps. With that, I would say that the RS Grand proved temp stable with these two loads.

RS Grand sits right in the H1000 burn rate but I am finding that it produces additional velocity within the pressure curve...... with these two loads.

Iiiiinteresting. That might be an option if I don't get what I'm looking for with H1000 in my 25-7PRC. Thanks for the range report!

Only difference I can tell based on the Hodgdon website is that Grand is made in the US and Magnum is imported from Belgium. Maybe a supply issue pushed them to release a near-identical domestic powder?

I just about bought some Grand, but there is zero load data. I'm reloading a 7wsm for the first time. Anybody know how Magpro compares to it for speed? I'll be slinging 162 grain ELDX'S.

Here you go.

I have struggled with loading Magpro in the 7 WSM. I have not gotten the accuracy using Magpro but did get some decent velocity. I also noticed that it struggled with temperature variations.

I wonder why they’d produce two powders so close in burn rate?

Does Grand just produce more energy than than Magnum, like VV N568 vs N570?
Magnum vs Grand? Magnum is a great powder, I have burnt a few hundred pounds over the years. I have noticed that Grand produces consistent velocity gain, pressure, as the load is increased. I have also noticed that Grand seems to produce wide flat spots during my ladder testing, sometimes a full gain and a half, when the fill rate closes in on 100%. Magnum can get a bit spike-y and inconsistent during max case fill and temp swings. I have not noticed this with the Grand powder. Yes, Grand vs Magnum equates to N568 vs N570 very well but the RS powders are BALL, so the fill rates are comparable.

Currently working on dialing in Grand loads for several 6.8 Western rifles with 26", 24" and 20" barrels. Hodgon's data seems to be very accurate, 165gr ABLR 26" at 3,020fps and 24" at 2,970fps. I haven't had a chance to test the 20" but hoping to soon, once the snow and cold subsides a bit.

As I stated, I believe that RS Grand is a winner where applicable.
