RALLY FOR YOUR PUBLIC LANDS!
Join fellow Montanans at the capitol in Helena at high noon on
January 30, 2017.
Our public lands are under attack. Bills this session in Congress and the Montana Legislature aim to sell off or give away one of America's most unique treasures, our public lands. Most Montanans strongly oppose transferring our national heritage of publically-owned mountains, forests, prairies, waters, and other invaluable outdoor expanses to states or private ownership.
Protecting the headwaters of our nation's rivers and streams was a key reason the federal government created our system of public lands. Those of us who value our state's and nation's fisheries know that maintaining the health of those headwaters continues to be a key benefit of our public lands. In Montana, a full two-thirds of native trout habitat is on federal public land.
We know that taking these places out of federal hands will mean losing access and seriously diminishing the Montana way of life. Public land giveaways would erode our hunting and fishing traditions and the $6 billion outdoor economy those activities and access to public lands provide.
That's why we are participating in a Rally for Public Lands on Monday, January 30 at noon under the State Capitol Rotunda in Helena.
This is your chance to let our elected officials know that our outdoor way of life defines who we are as Montanans and that we will stop any attempts to seize these wonderful places that enable us to lead that life, as well as pass it on to our children and future generations.
This rally will send a clear message to our elected officials in Montana and the U.S. Congress: public lands belong in public hands.
Speakers at the rally will include Governor Steve Bullock, mountaineering legend Conrad Anker, fly fishing guide and TV host Hilary Hutcheson, and K.C. Walsh, CEO of Simms fishing company, headquartered in Bozeman, MT.
Hope to see you at the rally!
