Raising Pheasants Again

The male ringneck and male wood duck are the two prettiest game birds IMO.

I agree with you, even though I've never had a wood duck in my hands, if I ever get that first wood duck I'm going to drop everything and head straight to the taxidermist! Can you get a police escort in order to get to the taxidermist quicker?:D

The birds are roughly 14 weeks old now, I've released about half of them so far and plan on releasing most of the remaining birds over the next two weeks - I don't even want to know how much the feed bill was this year. We had a string of bad luck this year losing 40+ to what I believe was a weasel(s) and then someone stole at least 60 birds. The roosters haven't reached their full majestic coloration yet, but it's very easy to tell the hens from the roosters. Good luck to all in the upcoming season!

I'd REALLY like to know the 'who' part on the stolen birds. A couple of weeks ago when I fed the birds they had more water and feed left than normal and just didn't seem to be as many running around in the net pen. I had already released a bunch of birds and the weasel had done his damage, but we knew approximately how many birds were in the pen and the count was coming up 60 to 75 birds short. I now have a lock on the door ....................... seems like there's some old adage about horses or cows and barn doors :(, I should've had a lock on there sooner.
