After reading @Nathan post about he asked for permission a couple of months ago I have decide I’m going to try to do the same on an eastern Colorado either sex archery deer tag. But I have one question.
When I go on onX and tap on a private property I see the tax address, is that the address I send something to? Or do I need to get the address for that piece of land specifically? And if so how?
Thanks y’all for your help.

It depends... if it is a person's name there is a good chance that it is the right address. Google the address to see if it's a home. If it's a LLC or trust the address might be a registered agent or attorney which would probably be hit or miss on getting a response. Could do a little more searching to find landowner contact info in that case.

I recently received permission from a large landowner to walk through his property to access landlocked timber company land that is open to public access. The property was a LLC with an attorney office for the address. I used Google to find the owner's name and email. I used email since I figured it he was a busy guy and was very specific regarding the desired access saying I only wanted permission to walk through his property to hunt a the corporate timberland property and I specifically asked for spring turkey season. If my wife draws the cow elk tag she put in for I will ask for permission again for that.

Most counties now have property records online, and those often contain more detailed info than OnX. Just go to the county website and see if the have a GIS or property search. Property search is usually under the tax records portion of the site or county recorder. Once there, you typically see both a property address and a mailing address, and for LLC’s or Trusts their may be a contact persons name. Some counties have better websites than others. About have of them use an system from Tyler Technologies, so You see a lot of consistency across those.

for LLC’s, you can go to the state Secretary of State’s website and potentially get more info. But as westbranch said, that will often just get you to a registered agent / attorney instead of the actual owner. Googling the LLC and/or address may get you some more information.

OnX shows the company name or owner name. The county tax records have a section that lists the “deed holder.” It’s a person and their personal or business address. This is who you contact.

I will be in the same boat for deer this year but trying to decide whether permission will be easier to get for whitetail or mule deer, but either way plan to try and get permission for the first time.
