WY Game department made North of $660,000(unless youth points are cheaper, which I have no idea) on suckers buying in for the first time on moose and sheep points for statistically zero chance of EVER getting a tag.

Could be they're optimistic that sheep and moose populations will increase or there will be changes to the draw (50-50 random/preference, or squared bonus).

I was behind the curve in lots of states 25 years ago, but I'm glad to have every point I've purchased.

But, yeah, as it is now, it's somewhere between wishful thinking and fantasyland.

It would be interesting to know how many in that first couple years pool came from an application service with a CC on file doing the customer a "favor".

6 years ago I was 2 points away from drawing an out of state mule deer license in a unit I really want to hunt. Checked the updated odds tonight and I’m currently 2 points away from drawing.

Really giving myself an education on the sunken cost fallacy.

If I ever draw a henries tag, I'm shooting a 2 point just for spite, and neck roasts.

There is no deer tag worth that many points. I'm an idiot for having this many.

Honestly with preference points you at least know how fugged you are so it's easier to say no to. My 16 WA Mt goat bonus points still only grant me about a 0.03% chance. 3 in 10,000.

Someone has to draw… it just won’t be me. Other than WY antelope and WY elk, Ihave refrained from the NR tag draw scene.

I realize that I have far too many opportunities in my home state to ever get bored and if I tire of that, I will look for alternate hunts in OTC areas or fishing trips.

I’ve said for last 7-8 yrs I am going to draw elk in UT and AZ (16 pts in each). I don’t even put in for the “HuntinFool” premium units. I did draw a UT deer tag that took 23 pts (got it in the random) with 14 pts. So there is “luck”…. I may give up my plethora of hunting and fishing toys in the next 5 yrs due to influencers blowing up everything I loved about my hobbies..
