I know of people who have anecdotally said they are great while on a moving boat looking for birds, weed lines, and scattering fish.
They didn't state the magnification, but I suggest the lower the better so your field of view will be big enough. I have the 16x power and don't need a tripod, but a 10x would be awesome while on a moving boat.
