It is crazy. The market cap on Nintendo is up almost 9 billion dollars in the last 3 weeks.

The view from my office has a nice park with a veterans war memorial and I guess there is a Pokemon out there because about 10 people an hour have been driving up and wandering around with their cell phones looking lost until they suddenly stop and then head back to their cars and drive off.

Quite a few moms driving their kids around and letting them out to find the thing, but mostly young adults evidently without a job because this is between 8 and 5. I drove by the office last night and I guess traffic picks up in the evening on the Pokemon circuit because there were 8 people out there all at the same time looking for whatever they are looking for. Overall they actually look like pretty normal people out there looking, I would have thought it would just be a bunch of nerdy dudes, but I would guess the majority are female.

2 girls came very close to having an accident as one was driving off on the wrong side of the street as the other was pulling in while they were both busy looking at their phones.

I think we are going to see an increase in global warming due to all the carbon emissions from the folks driving around looking for Pokemon!

I've been reading about this, but seeing it in person is crazy.

Anyone else have a Pokemon hiding nearby?

LOL. Nathan

The guy in my office asked me today if I've been doing it. I said, doing what! He explained, and I looked at him like he was crazy. If I'm going to collect something, which that is what appears to be the point, it's going to be something that I hold in my hand and keep for many years, like antler sheds, duck bands, turkey spurs, not something that onlly lasts until my phone contract runs out. But to each his own.

I left on a fishing trip last week on Thursday having not heard a thing about pokemans in 10 years. By the time I got home Monday afternoon after being off the grid, it seems to have taken over the world. Crazy! I guess as long as it gets people off the couch, I have no problem with it. I won't be looking for any fake pokemans anytime soon with all of the summer mushrooms out right now that need finding!

Haha

I think it is a big generational thing. I wont lie I have the game and play it with my friends after work and on the weekend. I think the driving and catching them is not safe but it is getting people out and walking around. I have a friend he is a large guy and doesn't do much of any exercising. The first day he walked 7.5 miles trying to catch them.

I think it may be pointless to some to catch a fictional creature but it has brought joy to many people who normally do not have a social life. I think in todays world there are a lot worse things people can be doing than catching a Pokémon.

I experienced a dental first today. While I was removing a set of wisdom teeth, the patient who was on "relaxing" medication and laughing gas, fumbles for the phone and starts waving their hands around. I jokingly asked if they were playing Pokemon Go. I got a huge thumbs up, and then they told me they had just "caught" a Pokeman, as it seems the fountain outside the office is a Pokestop (place to collect whatever it is you are collecting).

Truly dumbfounded.

There was a short discussion about this on a radio station. It was happening at Gettysburg and the Flight 93 Memorial. One wag thought that at least it brought the little freaks out the basement but another thought it was some pretty F'd up S to be doing at places like that. I don't know. What do you think? Arlington National Cemetery? I guess if I'm going to stay true to my colors I'd rather have it there than out in the Wilderness somewhere. Oh well, I guess I'll just shrug my shoulders and roll my eyes.

one more excuse for some to stare at their phones instead of actually interact with the world...like they really need another

While I know nothing about it, I think it is cool that it is getting people outside doing things together. As far as the places such as Arlington Cemetery, maybe it is getting people places they would have never been otherwise. Other than the 20-year olds looking at the phone and driving at the same time, I don't see a problem.

This is just the beginning........

There will be so many spin offs and add on's to this its gonna get interesting........

Somewhere between 5-10% of the U.S. population has been playing daily, and Pokémon's been raking in money for 20 years now. A lot more than 'some nerds crawling out of their mother's basement'.

There's bigger things in the world to be pissed off about then a bunch of people having fun.

I loved the game as a kid - I was about the right age when it hit it's prime. I'm still trying to figure this app out though. Besides that it's pretty entertaining at the very least. Just read an article about a church being a Pokestop and having more people showing up. Can't be a bad thing when used in that regard.
