Plate ‘em up

Oh yes, my dream is also a gas stove! But until that day comes I’m not letting the glass come between me and my cast iron.

My grandma was a early adopter of the glass top style stove. I know she had one by the 90s maybe earlier. Used a ton of cast iron and I can't ever remember there being a issue. I prefer my gas stove but grandma was a neat freak and loved how easy it was to clean.

Outside of a little scraping here and there, I don’t think I’ve “cleaned” any of our cast iron in at least 5 years. We cycle through 5 different skillets and griddles. Ground elk acts as my cleaner for any remnants that need cleaned up lol

Another day of bragging up my meals with no pictures. I smoked a chicken on Sunday, had it for supper that night. The two breasts, one drummy, and one thigh got chopped up tonight with mayo, apples, walnuts, and celery for chicken salad sandwiches on a croissant. Wish you all could have tasted this. It is one of my family’s favorite meals.

Wow I don’t think I’ve posted on this thread since I made it all those years ago! Glad to see so many wonderful dishes!

Rehydrated some chanterelles we found this summer and made a arugula goat cheese flatbread. Simply sautéed with some sherry and garlic.

First time catching pike and perch! Pike beer batter fish tacos, shredded cabbage, zarandeado sauce, pickled red onions.

Perch pan fried, sherry brown butter sauce, asparagus, rice pilaf.
