Non resident fishing, Alaska

Got a report from one of my cabin neighbors from the lower 48. He arrived in Anchorage on 6/2 and there were a bunch of signs saying everybody has to report and fill out a form quarantine but nobody around.
They just followed everybody else to luggage pick up and we're on their way.
There are new rules now so I'm looking forward to your report SD.
But I don't leave till July 14 and who knows what the rules will be then.

It didn't say connecting flights were out anywhere in the article...I'll have to make some phone calls.
That's where I was guessing. Don't know if they would or could put an "unproven" passenger on another flight and possibly expose more people.

Disclaimer - This is one guy's opinion, your opinion may vary and that is fine. I left Alaska because the state is terribly run and a @#$^show. This fiasco confirms my experiences there. My wife and I decided we could find a more stable environment and visit Alaska when we wanted to fish and hunt, without the need to live there. We are scheduled to got to POW fishing on July 30. We will see if they can get it cleaned up. Crazy, but not unexpected...unfortunately.

There is a form that needs to be filled out and given upon arrival. That form and a negative test result means "have a nice visit!" and off you go. Hope it gets figured out or eliminated before our trip!

I was still hoping to drive up even though I bought an one way flight just to in case they didn't open the border. I have alot a stuff to haul up.
They extended it another month the other day. So forget driving. When I bought the ticket I checked connecting flights and no problem all flights to the Kenai open.
So last night I decided I was definitely flying up and went to purchase my connecting flight.
All full that day after I arrive at 1:30 and only 2 left in the morning the next day. I'll be spending a night in Anchorage.
Dang it.

We are supposed to be fishing and staying on POW July 27-31, we'll see how it goes....

Made it through.
First word of advise, fill out the form before hand, it's the declaration you have to sign. Can do it all on your phone.

They basically blocked off where you leave the terminal past TSA so that you can fill out the paperwork, then show a person that form and your negative results, then they let you go on your way. They have a bunch of helpers with iPad's to fill out your form too.

Looks like the actual testing is done by baggage claim, not sure if you get escorted to it, or if it's on the honor system once you leave the terminal.

Overall fairly painless with the negative test already.

Oh and also, no idea if you had kids, but one lady had to test her child at baggage claim, it sounded pretty brutal.... Probably best to test you child elsewhere where multiple medical professionals can pin them down instead of just mom trying to hold them down after nostril one.... Sounded bad.....

So one of my clients got a little pissy with his doctor at home; doc I need a test, you must have symptoms,; you’re going to have symptoms, client finally gets doc to order the test, apparently they probed both nostrils but he had his results when he got off the plane in Anchorage.

Got my covid test today. Flying out Tuesday. Doc gave me a prescription for the test. I know it's more than 72 hours before I land, but the trying to find a testing site that's open on Sunday and get my results by Monday was making me crazy.
So the current option I'm going with is test 5 days before you land with a negative result and and you get tested when you land and you don't have to quarantine. But you must retest within 14 days.

Sitting in Anchorage waiting on my connecting flight to the Kenai.
What a circus. Got my test on Friday.
Called my Doctor on Monday and was told "10 business days for a result". WHAT.
Decided to do the test at the airport and quarantine till I get the results.
Standing in line in Anchorage and everyone is punching their phones and a woman with an I pad sees me with my paperwork and says they are not accepting paper. I guess she could read my mind cause before I could answer she said I'll do it for you.
Ended up I'm quarantining at my cabin for 14 days and no test. That's ok.
Crazy part is other people were coming off a flight from the other side of the testing line and going right out to baggage claim and the girl running the place told another girl "someone has to stop those people and have them get in line."
She said we don't have enough people.

Wow. Sounds a cluster for sure. My wife and I have our honeymoon/fishing trip scheduled for the very end of August and we're starting to lose hope that it will come to fruition.
