I want to approach this in reverse and be a landowner outside the US. I just found out that ranch land in Argentina is like $125USD/acre. Granted a lot of ranches are over 10k acres so you still need 1.25 mil to be in the market

No way I could live there given their economy and politics. It's pretty much suicide to decide to go live there. Just visiting!

I knew 2 wealthy families that fled their homeland of Argentina during the Peron years. 200 years they lived there.
I worked with a Arg. Navy captain carpenter. He was determined to become a US citizen and I was there as he was sworn in. He then joined the US Navy and retired in Pasadena as a Commander USN and owned his own construction business.
