I shot a doe this fall at 10 yards with my bow. I saw where she ran, but it was down hill and I lost sight of her. On the blood trail there was good blood on the arrow and a decent trail for about 10 yards and then nothing. I was very worried that I had hit too far back and that I should wait to go looking for her. But I couldn't keep myself from looking, so I slowly, slowly moved along the trail, looking everywhere. She was dead about 35 yards from where I lost the blood trail. It was a heart + double-lung shot, but the lung collapsed and plugged up the exit wound, no blood was coming out. Since I was shooting out of a tree stand the entry wound was too high on the body for the blood to come out. This was only the second deer I had ever shot so I spent several minutes being very worried that I wouldn't find her due tot eh lack of a blood trail. It was a good lesson though.
