Headed to Unit 51 this week for landowner cow tag hunt. I saw the area was hit with some snow this past weekend. Weather forecast for the week says mid 50s.
If anyone has an update on current conditions it would be most appreciated, Also, if anyone has any hunting reports, elk movement, or cow elk harvest to share that would be most appreciated. Two full days of scouting some predesignated areas first, then go where the signs take us.

Lots of snow last week, will melt off slow up there even with temps in the 50s. Landowner tag should help - is it Unit Wide, or ranch only? I have traipsed a good portion of the unit, driven more, but only had success one year so don't call me the great hunter. If you are in the trees, there will be a lot of snow on the ground, open country should be melting off a little.

Out and about today. Snow has melted more than I expected. On north slopes, in trees, or bottom of canyons, expect it deep and mushy. But it is going away fast, wind tomorrow will remove more.
