So I have a nightforce NX8 and bought a SG scope cover for it. My question is; with the NF scope caps on the scope is 1/8 to long and I can't physically squeeze the SG cover on it. If I go to a large SG it will be really big. Will I be ok just taking the scope caps off?

I had caps at one point but went to a cover to keep the whole scope & turrets protected!

I prefer a cover instead of scope caps. It seems like they always pop open at the wrong time and I also don't like the change in the view with a scope cap on the eyepiece. Can't imagine a scenario that I would have both caps and a cover on a scope.

Scope cover for me… both caps and cover is the equivalent of belt and suspenders - a very bad idea when the red beans and rice hits.

I prefer caps, quicker to remove and can't loose em. I use the aluminum ones leupold has. They are great quality. Not sure how the nightforce ones are. I like keeping rain off my scope but can swing it up for a quick shot and with hands in normal spots can pop the caps open.

My thoughts on a cover is if it's that bad weather the rifle itself shouldn't be in it. Also the whole need to remove it and can loose it thing.
