We lucked out and found a Bison in UT for my brother, so I made it back for the last half of the blacktail deer season. I have grown to love trying to outsmart ( or at least catch one making a mistake ) the bucks that call this brush patch home. I really look forward to this hunt and thought we might miss it, if we struggled to find a bull for my brother's once in a lifetime opportunity.
We made it home just in time for some crappy wet weather, which I find is perfect for hunting these deer! I covered lots of miles on foot and many more with the glass for a few days and luckily found a old buck on the 4th day. I was able to sneak into his little hiding spot the next morning and get the job done. A mature blacktail buck has to be one of the coolest creatures around!
