Sitting in Deer Lake airport waiting to fly home , thought I’d recap my hunt .
I went through Robert’s Outfitters and I had a blast .
I wasn’t sure what to think or expect but it was a great time .
My guide would call from a high spot while glassing .
He called a nice one almost to us , but another bull with a cow came through , the big bull took the cow and headed the other way.
We saw lots of moose , but the rut is just starting, it seemed.
The last day he called one out of the bog , we saw it coming in so I went down and waited for him to reach the road .
It was a fun trip .

Nice! Is the reason to go to Newfoundland based on geography for you over Alaska? Or, is the price more affordable? I’ve always wanted to hunt moose and never considered Newfoundland!

Several reasons for me. I’m a solo hunter and Alaska takes at least two hunters . Newfoundland is cheaper, also it’s less planning and logistics.

i love seeing people's reports, we're booked for 2026. my dad uncle and I hunting, mom coming along for the trip, not sure if my wife & aunt will join too or not but I'm excited either way
I'm looking at trying to go for my 40th in either 2026 or 2027. I just need to get my wife on board for the $10K bill lol

you just have to get a relative on board, since dad wanted to go and it's a down payment now it won't hurt as bad in 2 years.

it is putting into jeopardy a trip to Philmont with my best friend and both of his sons but I like the elevation of newfoundland better than NM so if it cuts out one trip to do one travel hunt with my dad, its worth it

My dad is 100% on board. Honestly I probably just need to tell my wife that I'm not just looking at it, I really want to do it, and she'd be fine with it. She's always been pretty cool about that stuff.

But, we also just canceled a family Disney cruise this year due to timing and cost. So now isn't the right time either.

fair enough, put money away for the family vacation and put a bit away for family hunting trip too.

I keep telling my wife that if she wants to go somewhere with one of my sisters or one of her friends, she knows she's more than welcome we'll figure it out. I always hope she'll take me but that also depends where she wants to go
