Hello all, I am looking for any suggestions on gear for a march/April DIY hunt. I am planning on a South island east side heli drop hunt, I found a transporter that I believe I am going to use once they start booking for next year. It would hopefully be 4 days for stags and 4 days for tahr (or something like that). Camping wherever I get dropped.
The main questions:
1) Does anyone have input on tents? I am looking hard ar the kuiu Morningstar or storm star. But open to reasonable suggestions.
2) What rating sleeping bags are best for that time frame?
3) other than rain gear does anyone have a suggestion for an indispensable price of gear that I will likely overlook coming from Montana?

Any and all input is welcome!

As small and narrow of a tent as you can because there won’t be much flat wide spots to pitch a tent.

Also an ice axe can be invaluable in climbing the vertical terrain. Don’t have to be on ice to use it.

Wow! Those videos and Pic definitely put some of the gear needs into perspective. Is that a hilleberg tent?
The tent on the knife ridge is an Integral Designs Sola made in Canada.
The other tent in video (Yellow & Burgundy color) is a Garuda Jana.

Just your regular gear. If it’s high quality gear it’ll work fine. Weather could be rough or it could be beautiful. The mountains are going to do what they do. One of the good things is the heli can carry a ton of weight so if you’re camping where you get dropped off you can kind of take whatever.
