For some reason anything to do with Kamchatka comes across my Google feed. ;) I found this article to be interesting even though it has a strong anti hunting vibe to it. Much of arguing that goes on here, is touched on in this article. Cool pictures in it, and information about a unique place on the planet make it worth posting this link.

P S. After reading it, keep the arguing to a minimum guys!:):p

one of those Newberg-esk dream vacations for me. 30" rainbows, single runs of steelhead larger than the entire state of WA returns, 50 lb kings in every hole, coho you have to beat off your fly, and zero people. May be more myth than reality, but I'd like to sort that out first hand.

I didn't pick up on the anti-hunting vibe just the anti poaching vibe.

You must have missed the line that said "Western Trophy Hunters killed the biggest bears and big-horn sheep." Would it be better to kill the younger bears and sheep? Killing salmon to eat is ok by the author but hunting sheep isn't? She mixed legal regulated hunting in Kamchatka (same as Randy legally hunting in B C) with poaching. Whether it was on purpose or done out of ignorance, it's still anti hunting bias in my opinion. But it is the New York Times so should come as no surprise to anyone.

Luckily Russia doesn't give two chits about what the NYT has to say about hunting there.

Kamchactka is on my short list for sure. Snow sheep, and moose sheds.
